No you can’t just go copying other peoples gnomes

Funny Danish story emerged today. Satellite Broadcaster Viasat has a series of commercials where two garden gnomes talks about the new fantastic offer. The gnomes were obviously so funny that a grocery store decided to sell the two gnomes in their stores.

One thing the forgot though…to ask permission. The gnomes are protected by copyright because the faces are changed so they resemble the two actors supplying the voices. Toymaker Scantoy which produces the gnomes claim that the gnomes are older than the commercials and that the offended ad agency was allowed to change their features. So actually it may be Scantoys IP. Funny stuff.
