Process perspective on technology transfer

Via Securing innovation I found an article about a “new technical approach to secure, manage, and market its portfolio of intellectual property, with a goal of boosting the number of licensing deals”.

In essence a company callec InnovationQ is developing “a web-based, on-site software platform that automates and streamlines common IP management functions.” What they really are saying is that we analyzed the work processes of university technology transfer offices and created a web-service supporting the process. Its not the software but the process mapping thats innovative. Nevertheless its a brilliant move to standardize processes of an organisation and I’m sure thet they will profit from it. I’m even more sure that most companies could do a mapping project themselves and find a lot of benefits like wasted time, unnessecary costes etc.

And yes I am in a process mapping mood today…
