Frankenbrand…a new word?

I read a Wired article about crossbranding of Lego and Pirates of the Caribbean the word “Frankenbrands” is introduced. I never heard it before and tend to think it has a somewhat more negative ring to it than co-branding or cross branding. But the examples given in the article are good examples on co-branding gone wrong: Pedigree Monopoly and John Deere Snacks.
Digging a little in the horror cabinet of branding I also found Barbie Rice Krispies, Hello Kitty hard-disk, Sylvester Stallone pudding, Harley-Davidson cake-decorating kit.
However I for one can´t wait to play and Lego – Pirates of the Caribbean
