The winners of the design competition Index: Award 2009 have been announced. Among the winners is a heart rate monitor, a stove for developing countries and an electrical car infrastructure. 

The winners are from the Netherlands, Australia, USA, South Africa and India. Really fascinating ideas behind the winners. 

My favorite is Pig05049 which is an idea to help people in “packaged” world understand how things are made and where they come from so that the resources involved can be cared for by enlightened, informed people.  PIG 05049 is a communications design developed in three years of research to track all the products made from a single pig.
