Patents explained by MSF movie

Some time ago i received a small movie via Facebook titled take the patent pool plunge. It turns out that it is a campaign by Medecins Sans Frontieres to explain “why people in developing countries can’t get the HIV medicines they need to survive and how setting up a ‘patent pool’ could change that.” The issues are somewhat simplified but the movies are well made and enjoyable as long as you consider them a part of a two sided debate.

MSF calls on researchers and pharmaceutical companies to put their patents in a pool.

On the MSF website I also found a book “The Global Politics of Pharmaceutical Monopoly Power” by Ellen ‘t Hoen. It’s available for both free download and purchase and is published under a Creative Commons license.
