Hari Puttar:1, Harry Potter: 0

A court decision from India rejects the claim that the movie Hari Puttar infringes on the Hary Potter. Warner Brothers had filed the suit which until now prevented the Puttar movie from premiering. A good thing about the (correct) decision is that the judge emphazised that:

  • Warner Brothers had known of the film for 3 years
  • Puttar means “son” in punjabi
  • The normal consumer will not mistake the new movie for Harry Potter “consumers who read the Harry Potter books, written by JK Rowling, were sufficiently educated to know that Hari Puttar was different”

All in all a well balanced decision.
