The UK Design Council has published a series of articles on how to manage the design process in a company. The Design Council is a public body with a mission to help British companies use design better.
The council among other things presents a design process model called the double diamond model.
This model devides the design process into 4 parts: Discover, Define, Develop and Deliver. The model is pretty straightforward and not very groundbreaking, but hey if it works then don´t invent something new.
The articles even feature a case example of the designproces from LEGO describing how they manage their design proces by fx ensuring:
- The alignment between corporate objectives and design strategy
- development of a standard sequence of activities for product development, with frequent evaluations and decision gates
